About Elk River Hops

We are a family owned hopyard located near the center of the Thumb of Michigan. We started growing hops by planting 100 rhizomes in 2008 when a friend suggested that would be a good hobby. in 2014 we decided to move to a commercial scale and planted about one acre of Cascades. We now have about 7 acres of hops under cultivation. In addition to the Cascades we now have Centennial, Chinook, Mackinac, Magnum, Mt. Hood and Willamette. We have a complete harvest and processing center licensed by MDARD. We are MEEAP certified in growing and processing.

Every year, in addition to our own hops, we harvest and process for 2-3 local farmers. Our goal is to serve as a resource to other growers in the area so that we can all expand together and compete with the larger companies in the market.
